Where It All Began
In 1935, Isaac White purchased his first hand-roller and a small truck, setting out to pave the dirt tracks and early residential roads of a rapidly expanding Dorset. With a strict ethos of "do it once, do it right," White & Sons quickly built a reputation that would span decades.
Through post-war rebuilding efforts and the boom in domestic car ownership in the 60s and 70s, the company adapted, grew, and passed down the complex skills of groundworks and surfacing from father to son. What started as one man with a roller became a company that would shape the roads and driveways of the South Coast.
The Growth Years
As British car ownership boomed, so did the demand for quality driveways. White & Sons was at the forefront, transitioning from tar macadam to modern asphalt and pioneering decorative block paving installations across Dorset. The company invested in its first mechanical paver and expanded its workforce.
By the 1990s, the third generation of the White family had taken the reins, introducing modern project management, health and safety systems, and expanding into commercial and public sector contracts while maintaining the family's unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.

Modern Masters
Today, White & Sons operates a fleet of modern, low-emission machinery and employs a dedicated in-house team of master pavers and civil engineers. While our equipment has evolved, our core 1935 philosophy remains untouched.
